May 4, 2003 is Founders Day of Plainsboro, New Jersey, Shifu Bonifacio Lim extends an invitation to Shifu Ben
Asuncion of Los Angeles, to participate in that particular event. Ben happily accepted this invitation and comes
with a few students to New Jersey. It is here that the humble beginnings of the USA Shaolin Wuzuquan Federation
are formed.
For it is on this day that Ben meet some of the most respected Wuzuquan authorities in the United States: Henry Uy,
Alejandro Ongchin, and Bonifacio Lim. As they begin to converse with one another, Ben and his new found friends
realized that they all share the same passion and love for the art of Wuzu Kung fu.
And while he’s on his way back to Los Angeles, Ben began to envision something great. He began to see how much
stronger Wuzu practitioners would be, if they were part of an organization where everyone could share their
experience, compete with one another to improve their skills, and support each other.
Ben shared his vision with the esteemed leaders of Wuzuquan. After hearing this, they liked Ben’s idea and encouraged him to start organizing this
federation. Thus, the board members of the USASWF were chosen, namely: Henry Uy, Alejandro Ongchin, Bonifacio Lim, and Ben Asuncion.
During the first year of the Federation’s existence, they made four great developments in their organization. They named their federation “USA
Shaolin Wuzuquan Federation” (USASWF), translated an accurate English name for Wuzu Kung fu, designed the insignia for the organization, and
introduced a new authentic kung fu uniform, which is a pattern of Ming Dynasty robes. At the same time, the federation set up a standard ranking
system and issuance of certificate for instructor accomplishment .
The federation still has more future goals that it wishes to complete. This includes creating seminars, demonstrations, and competitions for its
members to attend giving to its members an opportunity to benefit from each other. The Federation is also planning to spread Wuzuquan to the world
through some sort of mass media (Ex. Books, videos, DVDs, magazines, pamphlets, etc.). Therefore, the board members sincerely invite you all to
participate and be part of this Wuzu Kung fu history.
